Operations Manager - Manufacturing

Under management direction, the Business Center Manager is responsible for organization and implementation of plans, procedures and policies necessary to maximize utilization of resources in line with area and plant goals. Incorporate core values of safety, quality and employee relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises Manufacturing Supervisor with respect to production, distribution, volume, cost, quality and achievement of production plans.

  • Assures, through Manufacturing Supervisor, good employee relations. May conduct employee meetings, approves requisitions, promotions, merit increases, transfers and discipline.

  • Stimulates maximum efficiency and productivity of both Manufacturing Supervisor and production employees. Assures efficient utilization of equipment and facilities.

  • In conjunction with Manufacturing Supervisor, establishes goals and objectives for assigned departments for review by Plant Manager. Administers the goal setting/performance appraisal program for the area.

  • Responsible for selection, hiring and development of Manufacturing Supervisor. Recommends merit increases, promotions and transfers.

  • Coordinates activities within his area with those of other production areas, plant staff managers and division. In conjunction with Production Control may develop weekly schedules to meet customer requirements.

  • Assures compliance with Company and Plant policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, and good housekeeping practices.

  • Participates in base plan presentation. Continuously reviews ongoing performance within area of responsibility and takes action to assure achievement of goals.

  • Recommends improvements in equipment and processes. Coordinates, manages and evaluates the installation of new equipment or processes in area of responsibility.

  • Assures proper maintenance of machines and equipment in area of responsibility. Coordinates longer term planning for major maintenance projects.

  • Assures compliance with quality and process specifications.

  • Maintains the security of products and assets in area of responsibility.

  • Overtime is required to meet internal and external customer requirements.

  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

  • Develop and/or monitor Key Performance Indicators and ensure adequate management reporting on the performance of the area.

  • Manage expenditures to achieve budgeted targets. Ensure production is run efficiently, waste is kept to a minimum and equipment is maintained to company standards.

  • Minimum qualifications - College degree in Business / management or equivalent leadership experience coupled with manufacturing experience. Preferred a university degree in a technical field or a bachelor degree combined with manufacturing.

  • 4-5 years of manufacturing experience (operations, quality or engineering) in a leadership role.

  • Must have a demonstrated history of successfully leading and facilitating changes in a 24/7 operation that involve all levels of employees with measurable results. Proven ability to lead associates through coaching and mentoring.

  • Experience in Curing and Final Inspection in the tire industry is a plus.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
