NDT Technician Trainee

Job Description
West Penn (Mistras Group, Inc.) has three (3) shifts. Available positions are currently for 2nd or 3rd shift (WP has a wait-list for 1st shift). Pre-employment and participation in random drug testing program required. Applicants should be comfortable working with a computer West Penn will provide training on testing software that will be utilized. Work in a shop environment with equipment such as overhead crane and fork truck.
POSITION SUMMARY: The NDT Inspector Trainee is responsible for assisting certified personnel in performing non-destructive testing (immerse material in water and test for defects using ultrasound) of customer material while learning required skills towards certification. An NDT Inspector Trainee shall learn how to:
Properly handle customer materials using fork lifts and overhead cranes
Safely load and unload customer product into inspection tanks
Read and interpret inspection procedures
Use PC based computer software to run inspection equipment, retrieve inspection information and document Work Order information
Use basic math to calculate inspection parameters (calculate equations; training provided and use of calculator)
Make mechanical and electronic adjustments to inspection systems to meet inspection parameters
Fill out inspection reports
Perform preventative maintenance tasks, as directed
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work station at all times.
Sit for one or more hours at a time.
Reliably report to their work stations on time as scheduled
Trainees will be asked to perform other ancillary duties as needed
High school diploma OR GED Certificate required
Training or experience in non-destructive testing preferred
Lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Possess a strong work ethic and high level of integrity
Possesses good communication, organizational and observational skills
Proficient problem solving skills with good judgment and decision making
Ability to complete daily work assignments and stay on schedule
Great attention to detail for completeness and accuracy
Possesses strong math and analytical skills
A working knowledge of MS Office applications preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
