Machine Shop Supervisor

Position Summary

This position is for a working supervisor / machinist. The successful applicant will supervise the lab machine shop personnel as well as support production goals by operating the following machines as required:

  • Horizontal Band Saw
  • Water Jet
  • Heat Treat
  • Manual Lathes
  • CNC Lathes
  • OD Cylindrical Surface Grinder
  • Familiarity with this equipment and functions is required (or the ability to rapidly acquire those skills).
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with coworkers and supervisors to promote a positive work environment
  • Support and promote safe work practices while maintaining a safety conscious work environment
  • Plan work and execute work assignments and skills development
  • Enforce and improve work procedures and practices,
  • Coordinate with the expediter and supervision on production needs
  • Coordinate with maintenance and vendors on equipment and tooling issues
  • Hold regular meetings to keep group informed
  • Promote cross training to enhance skills and develop flexibility without compromising quality,
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Organize workflow through machining to meet customer needs and promote efficiency product and process quality while meeting customer needs.

3.) Ability to lift up to 25 pounds repeatedly

4.) Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and a 3/2 team schedule.

5.) Ability to work independently with limited supervision

6.) Basic operating skills in a windows PC environment

7.) Ability to quickly learn and retain new information under instruction of a knowledgeable technician

8.) Ability to study independently

9.) CNC programming experience

The following are skills are preferred for this position:

1.) Previous experience in Mechanical or Metallographic sample preparation

2.) Knowledge in heat treating practice and theory

3.) Knowledge and/or experience in the machining of mechanical test samples.

4.) Knowledge and/ or experience in preparation of Metallography samples and Metallographic Testing

5.) Previous experience in a supervisory role

The successful candidate will be required to pass the following criteria within the first 30 days of acceptance :

1.) Successful completion of training per RB-TD-001.This training may be completed by an outside source or trade school.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
